BPUP is committed to protecting the privacy of the children who visit and use the Butterpup and Friends website and apps. This Children’s Online Privacy Policy explains our information collection, disclosure, and parental consent practices with respect to information provided by children under the age of 13 (“child” or “children”). This policy is in accordance with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). This policy should be reviewed by the parents/guardians of the child intending to use the Butterpup and Friends website and/or apps.

This policy was last revised on November 26, 2014.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM CHILDREN

Our site and applications may permit children to register to view content, play games, participate in contests, and engage in special features, among other things. We may ask the child to provide certain information for notification and security purposes, including a parent or guardian’s email address, the child’s first name and gender, the child’s member or account username, and password. Birth dates may be requested from children to validate their ages. We will not require a child to provide more information than is reasonably necessary in order to participate in an online activity.

Per the requirements of COPPA, on any child-targeted site or application, or in any instance where we ask for age and determine the user is age 12 or under, we will ask for a parent or guardian email address before we collect any personal information from the child in order to notify and/or receive parental consent to collect such data. If you know your child is participating with our site and apps and has given information in order to do so, but you did not receive an email please email us at: contact@butterpupandfriends.com. Parental emails are only used for this purpose and not for any marketing purposes.
Sometimes our website and apps may provide for a child a way to upload and/or share certain content – such as a poem, drawing, colored picture, story entries, etc. We will seek parental consent for any personal information collected on the child should any be collected to enable the child to upload and/or share this content that they generated.
Sometimes a child may want to submit a question through our website or apps related to Butterpup and Friends. We may need to request the child’s email address in order to respond to him or her. We will delete this information once the question or request has been answered and/or completed. If we collect the email address to send a periodic newsletter or updates about Butterpup and Friends to the child we will request parental consent first to retain the email address for this purpose only.
Parental consent will be sought if our site or apps collects geolocation data that is specific enough to equate to a street address.
There is certain information, called persistent identifiers, that may be collected automatically to help improve the BPUP website and/or apps. Such information can include: the child’s IP address, mobile device identifier, the web browser, the computer operating system, online or mobile service provider information, etc. Some of this information is collected using cookies (see our Privacy Policy for more details).

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT FROM CHILDREN THAT MAY BE AVAILABLE TO OTHERS

We may share information we collect on the child:
With our service providers if necessary so they can perform a business, professional, or technology support function for us.
If permitted and/or required by law, such as in response to a court order or subpoena.
If you give parental consent.

3. PARENTAL CHOICES AND CONTROLS

Parents have the right to 1) refuse BPUP to collect information about their child(ren) and/or to 2) request that we delete any information relating to the child that we have already collected. Requests can be sent to our email at contact@butterpupandfriends.com with identifying information of the child and account the child is associated with. This will likely result in the account being closed and the child will no longer have access to certain features on our site or apps.
